My name is Alex Henry, and I’m an Apprentice Engineer at AVIRE, studying Embedded Electronic Systems Design and Development Engineering at University Centre Newbury. I joined the AVIRE team in September 2025 after completing four STEM A-levels and a gap year. Before joining AVIRE, I gained experience in a variety of customer-facing roles, including as a Climbing Wall Instructor and a Trainee Manager, helping me develop strong communication and problem-solving skills.
I was drawn to AVIRE by the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience developing products that make a real difference to people’s everyday safety. The part of my role I enjoy most is learning from the talented people around me while applying my knowledge to real engineering challenges. Since joining, I’ve contributed to a range of engineering projects, including testing the power consumption of AVIRE products to better understand their real-world performance and support future product development.
