SmartView 2: Two-Way Elevator Communication System

The redesigned SmartView 2 system simplifies your building compliance with ASME A17.1 2019/CSA B44-19 and IBC 2018 requirements for two-way elevator visual communication, providing the hearing impaired with an improved method to communicate with rescue services

How the system works

The SmartView 2 System is thoughtfully designed with two essential components that seamlessly work together for optimal functionality.

The Elevator In-Car Unit (7200) serves as the primary interface for trapped passengers, integrating the camera, display, and phone. This unit ensures clear communication and visual aid from within the elevator
The Machine Room Unit (7100) acts as the system’s nerve center. It gathers input from the Elevator In-Car Unit, provides real-time system status through its LED indicators, and efficiently channels data and voice through ethernet and a POTS (or its equivalent) connection.
The monitoring service receives the voice call.
- The unit will state it’s location and SmartView ID before starting the call
- If there is no response through the voice call, the operator will log into the SmartView Hub and activate the camera inside the elevator car
- If the elevator car is occupied, the operator can then send a text type message to the display in the car
- The trapped party can use the car panel buttons and provide a yes/no response
- Monitoring company will continue two-way conversation and remain on the line until help has arrived
- Once assistance has arrived, the operator will terminate the call

Note: Per code, buildings where elevators travel is 60 feet or more, must install in building rescue coordination. The SmartView Command Center is designed to bridge this communication gap, providing a direct line of sight and communication to every elevator in the building

Elevator In Car Unit

The SmartView 2 Elevator Unit is a combined audio and visual communication system providing complete ADA compliance within the elevator car.
The unit comprises of a display, camera, microphone, and speaker all within one compact housing. The SmartView 2 Elevator Unit also has inputs for the emergency call button and yes / no buttons to allow a trapped passenger to answer text messages that are displayed on the screen
Note: The 7100 Machine Room Unit is required to complete the installation of this unit

Machine Room Unit

The SmartView 2 Machine Room Unit provides the conversion from twisted pair to ethernet and POTS line and power to the SmartView 2 Elevator unit. This is essential to the system for connectivity of audio / video to the outside world and power. The requirement of the system is one SmartView Machine Room unit to one SmartView 2 Elevator unit, without both in a system the SmartView 2 will not function.
