The Safe-Com battery backup unit features our state-of-the-art Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery technology, designed to enhance performance and be lighter in weight and more compact than traditional batteries.
The battery system monitors and prevents both overcharge and over-discharge of the batteries, with overcurrent protection and cell-balancing circuitry to extend the life of the batteries. In the case of an outage, the integrated AC power supply offers a smooth transition from AC power to battery power.
The new battery technology is less likely to overheat versus legacy battery options, and this innovative design features no outgassing, low self-discharge, and no memory effect. These batteries are also more environmentally friendly than traditional alternatives as they do not contain cobalt or other toxic chemicals found in lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries.
